Moxi Fit R. is the world’s smallest rechargeable hearing aid, while also providing better sound quality and a more realistic, natural, and comfortable sound experience.

Unitron, Kitchener, Ontario, reports that it has launched the smallest rechargeable hearing instrument in its class, Moxi Fit R, built on Unitron’s newest platform,Tempus.

Moxi Fit R. The new Unitron Moxi Fit R reportedly addresses the 70% of patients who want rechargeable hearing aids. It is said to be the world’s smallest rechargeable hearing aid, and brings new flexibility to the company’s award-winning design. Leveraging the capabilities of the new Tempus platform, the Moxi Fit R is designed to provide more than 24 hours of use with 90 minutes of wireless streaming on an overnight charge—an eco-friendly rechargeable solution that replaces up to 100 regular batteries. The hearing aid uses rechargeable technology, as well as traditional zinc-air batteries when a back-up plan is needed. A telecoil and push-button offer ultimate control and ease of use.

“Today’s healthcare consumer wants the same flexibility and convenience from their hearing instruments as they are able to have from a smartphone or any other personal device,” says Andre de Goeij, director of product management and product marketing at Unitron. “At the same time, they don’t want to compromise on comfort and aesthetics. Moxi Fit R eliminates any existing compromise between a hearing instrument’s rechargeable capability and its size to provide patients with the ultimate flexibly delivered in the world’s smallest rechargeable hearing instrument.”

Tempus platform. According to a recent study conducted by Donald Hayes, PhD, at Unitron, people who wear hearing aids spend over half of each day connecting through conversations, and MarkeTrak 9 found that conversations in noise and crowds are the listening situations they struggle with the most. Tempus brings new technologies to market that allows the wearer to actively participate in all types of conversations, even those taking place with significant background noise.

According to Unitron, Tempus’s intelligent SoundCoretechnology enables this by orchestrating four features to understand the listening environment and make fluid adjustments. Tempus is more accurate and significantly faster at recognizing and locating the primary source of speech than Unitron’s previous platform, delivering the most realistic and natural sound yet.

“Traditional hearing instruments cannot determine the direction of speech and therefore do not benefit the listener who is trying to localize conversational speech,” says Unitron VP of R&D Ara Talaslian. “With the Tempus platform, we have been able to achieve a quantum leap forward in accuracy and in our ability to simultaneously understand the listening environment and determine the precise direction of speech. These two capabilities mean a patient’s ability to understand and locate the source of sound goes to the next level, providing better sound quality and a more realistic, natural, and comfortable sound experience. Between the advanced sound system capabilities of Tempus and the small, rechargeable Moxi Fit R, this is by far the most advanced hearing solution Unitron has introduced.”

Tempus is available on Unitron’s Stride BTE and Moxi RIC families in a full range of award-winning RIC and BTE options that can be offered at 5 technology levels.
