(A truly heartwarming story to begin the new year)
A brave man risked his own life to save a deer after he saw it struggling in an icy river.
The unnamed deaf man trekked through a wood and crawled over ice in order to save the deer, who he named Miss Ice River.
Incredible footage, which was posted on Vimeo, shows him patting the animal following the rescue at Kettle River in Minnesota as he carefully tries to remove icicles from its fur.
He said: ‘I felt obligated to help her so I pulled over. I used a rope to pull her out. I’m so glad she is safe.’
The man added that he was hoping to find the animal’s mother before leaving her.
He added: ‘I’m so happy she survived.’
The man, who has not been named, also managed to take a selfie with the lucky deer. The footage was uploaded by a family friend.
